As an e-commerce seller, streamlining your numbers and getting them into your financial software the right way can save you a TON of time and effort. In this blog post, I want to share one of my favorite tools and give you a quick up-close tour of A2X QuickBooks Online integration with Shopify and Amazon.
What is A2X?
If you’re not familiar with A2X, it’s an integration tool that seamlessly brings over data from Amazon and Shopify into QuickBooks Online. The reason I love A2X so much is that it doesn’t do a data dump into QuickBooks, it actually brings in summarized transactions. This is fantastic because we don’t need all that detail in QuickBooks.
Why is A2X great?
As I mentioned, A2X brings in summarized numbers rather than dumping a big pile of raw data into QuickBooks. That keeps your books clean and doesn’t give you all kinds of detail you really don’t need. It also makes it much easier to reconcile your numbers.
Many e-commerce sellers who DIY their bookkeeping have trouble matching their sales and settlement reports to their bank information. This happens because your bank reflects the net amount deposited after fees and the numbers from Amazon and Shopify show gross totals. A2X breaks the numbers down so you can map fees to the appropriate accounts and net income will match what you actually got paid from the marketplace.
Depending on how you want to track your sales, you can set A2X to bring over all your sales numbers together or to break them down by SKU, product categories, or even by the location of the buyer. This is great if you want to get a deeper understanding of where you’re making the most profit and where you have the most potential to grow. However you set it up, you can choose to Enable Auto Posting Payouts in A2X so there’s no need to manually import your data. Just be sure the accounts are mapped correctly first!
Here’s how it works
A2X lets you automate so much of the process while still giving you control over how your numbers come in. It’s a huge time saver and surprisingly simple once you’ve set it up correctly.
